#26 Isaac Mizrahi: Fashion and Creativity
Truly, unique ideas don't come from research. They come from doing completely nothing. Ideas from research are most likely to end up as an improvisation from an existing design, which I don't think is fresh out of the box. I don't know if getting inspiration from nothing is a gift or a talent which can be picked up and trained, but I do believe people get inspirations from time to time. It is just whether they take action and make something out of it.
As Isaac said, it is good to be bored. It simply means that you, yourself are getting used to a same old design or colour and it's only when you are bored, you are bothered to make a change, rid of that boring old stuff and create something new and interesting which is obviously not going to be the same old because, it's interesting. If it's interesting, it will definitely be something very different from the usual.
