Red, being one of the three primary colours, would make anything it's on stand out. It's no wonder why most countries' flags are colourful with certain chosen colours on them. For SG50, it's obviously red as Singapore's flag colours are red and white. I like how the concept for this year's National Day was red dot and the city had red dots with various designs and messages on them. It attracted people's attention and brighten up plain places like the lane at the Design Museum.
